Meet Penny — a note from the founders

We built Penny because we were both, at different points, the person crying over a Klarna invoice.

Ellen grew up watching her mom stretch a nurse's salary across four kids in Bergen. Tahani moved to Oslo from Tallinn at 19 and learned about Nordic prices the hard way. Between us we have every kind of "why did I buy that" story you can imagine.

What Penny is not

Penny is not a budgeting app. There are enough of those. Penny is not a lecture — we love you too much for that. Penny is not going to lock your card or take away your fun.

What Penny is

Penny is a small unicorn who sits between you and the buy button. She remembers what you told her you were saving for. She notices when 2am you is about to overrule 9am you. And she asks, gently: are you sure?

That's it. That's the whole product. Everything else — the garden, the Circle, the goals — is just there to make the pause feel like something you look forward to, not something you dread.
